Place

Physical Characteristics: Sweden is on the Scandinavian Peninsula. It also has the Scanderma, which is a mountain range. Southern Sweden is agricultural, trying to repair the forests.

Human Characteristics: The population is about 10 million, and the capital is Stockholm. The culture of Sweden is very unique. In contrast to other European cultures, Sweden created their own culture, without using a lot of influences from other countries. Folk tales, traditions, and customs are included in the culture.

Human Environment Interaction

Humans Affect Environment: The Baltic Sea is polluted by agricultural and waste. Sweden’s lakes have acid in them because of industrialization. Deforestation is another one of the country’s problems.

Environment’s Response: Sweden’s temperature hasn’t changed as much as other countries, with about 1-2•C for about 30 years. The precipitation is increasing by 2%. The ice that covers the lakes have gotten to 1•C higher, which can lead to 35 days of the ice cracking earlier.

Movement

People: Sweden has 3 main ways to move around. Train is the first. It is slowly running out of style because the bus and trams are gaining popularity. The second way is by road, so that includes the cars, taxis, etc. The third way are boats. They’re usually carrying goods.

Goods: The main export of Sweden is petroleum, medicine, cars/car parts, and phones. The main imports are petroleum, cars/car parts, and computers.

Ideas: Sweden was once ruled by Denmark’s king, which helped spread Denmark’s culture over to the country. Later, Sweden took over countries of its own, such as Latvia, Estonia, and Finland. That helped spread Sweden’s culture to the nations.

Region

Sweden is in Northern Europe.

Northern Europe is not as cold as people think it is. The countries are also developed. There are also economic opportunities from the North Sea’s oil supply: drilling to get to the oil. That might bring immigrants who are looking for work to come to Sweden.
