Poland

Location
The longitude and latitude of Poland are 52•N and 20•E.
It is north of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
It is east of Germany.
It is west of Belarus and Ukraine.
It is south of a small section of Russia.
Place
Physical Characteristics: Poland's geography varies greatly. Plains stretch from one boundary to the other, while forests, hills, and lakes are scattered between them. Mountains and valleys are also found, such as the Sudetes Mountains in the southern region of Poland. The climate of northern Poland is classified as marine west coast, while the southern section is continental.
Human Characteristics: The population is about 38.5 million people, with its capital being Warsaw. Polish culture is a mixture of many European cultures. Such as in visual arts, it represents European aspects, but still maintains the Polish character. An example is Stanislaw Witkiewicz, who painted about realism in Polish art.
Human Environment Interaction
Humans Affect Environment: Air pollution is from burning fuel. Chemical wastes and acid rain pollute the water. About ¼ of Poland’s lakes are extremely polluted. Poland is trying to purify water, but ¼ of the untreated water is dumped into the rivers.
Environment’s Response: Many natural disasters happen, such as tornadoes, droughts, and hail. Acid rain alone has destroyed up to ¾ of Poland’s trees.
Movement
People: Poland has many ways of transportation. Buses, cars, and trams use roadways. Most cities are have or are located near a railway or a plane.
Goods: The main exports of Poland are vehicle/car parts, petroleum, and video displays. The main imports are petroleum, car/car parts, medicine, and computers.
Ideas: When Poland became part of the EU, many Polish citizens went to Europe's western countries. There, they spread the Polish culture to those regions. Currently, the people who left are coming back, bringing along the experiences of new culture.
Region
Poland is in Eastern Europe.
The east side of Europe has many cultural aspects to it. The cultures are very unique in their own way. The history and background behind Eastern Europe is very old, which can attract some people to visit Poland.
