Physical Characteristics: Germany has a lot of low elevated and flat land. There are also forests and mountain ranges, one of which are the Alps. Some of the longest rivers in Europe also run through Germany, such as the Rhine River.

 

Human Characteristics: The government type is a parliamentary, constitutional republic. The capital is Berlin, and the country has about 80.5 million people. Germany has had a lot of creative thinkers, such as poets, composers, etc. Germany is also known to be extremely good at football (soccer in the U.S.), having won the FIFA 4 times. German food is also internationally known.

Movement

People: The main way of transport is by bicycle, which is the most popular, bus, and tram. U-Bahn and S-Bahn, which are subway trains, are also used, by less frequently. Cabs are usually not chosen unless in a hurry.

 

Goods: The main exports are cars, machinery, medicine, planes/helicopters, spacecraft, and petroleum. The main imports are petroleum, cars, and machinery.

 

Ideas: Germany was once a part of Austria and the Czech Republic, which helped spread the culture to those areas. Tourism/travelers are also big in Germany, so the ideas of the people from other countries spread to the German citizens.

The latitude and longitude of Germany are 51•N and 9•E.

 

It is north of Switzerland and Austria.

It is east of Belgium, France, and the Netherlands.

It is west of Poland and the Czech Republic. 

It is south of Denmark and the Baltic Sea.

Human Environment Interaction

Humans Affect Environment: Pollution in Germany is getting worse, in contrast to other countries. Rivers and lakes are polluted by agricultural and nuclear waste. This also affects the soil and groundwater supply. Travelers driving across the country and coal burning poison the air.

Environment's Response: The trees are losing their leaves and flowering earlier, along with the starts of new seasons. Temperatures have increased by 1.4•C. Floods are more prone to happen.

Region

Germany is in Western Europe.

 

The western part of Europe is known to have many climate zones because of the Gulf Stream. This can affect why people choose Germany to live in because people can choose where to live to suit their personal preferences.
