Slovakia

Location
The latitude and longitude of Slovakia are 48•N and 19•E.
It is north of Hungary.
It is south of Poland and the Czech Republic.
It is east of Austria and the Czech Republic.
It is west of Ukraine.
Place
Physical Characteristics: Slovakia has a lot of mountains, mainly the Carpathian and Tatra Mountains. Rivers also run through Slovakia, one of the most major ones being the Danube, which provides transportation. The climate is temperate.
Human Characteristics: The population is about 5.5 million people, with the capital at Bratislava. Slovakian culture has a lot of folk tradition, along with some other European trends. The traditions are shown in the art, literature, dance, and music. SĽUK is the largest folklore tradition group, the main representer of Slovakia.
Human Environment Interaction
Humans Affect Environment: Slovakia’s air is contaminated with gas produced from using lignite as energy. Acid rain is also a major problem Slovakians have to deal with. It damages the forests and endangers animals.
Environment’s Response: Slovakia’s temperature increased by 1.6•C since 1881. The precipitation has decreased by about 3.4%. Though this has happened, there are times when daily storms occur, making flash floods.
Movement
People: The 4 modes of transportation are by train, road (cars, bus, etc.), plane, and boats. Some of the railways and roads are currently under construction, but they are still one of the most used transportation devices.
Goods: The main exports of Slovakia are cars, vehicle/vehicle parts video displays, and petroleum. The main imports are vehicle parts, petroleum, and broadcasting equipment.
Ideas: Slovakia was once a part of Czechoslovakia. That helped mix the two cultures together and bringing new aspects of life to the two groups. There are also a lot of tourists that come to Slovakia, mainly for the historical buildings/artifacts and beautiful scenery.
Region
Slovakia is in Eastern Europe.
Like many, many other countries in Eastern Europe, people come to the country so they can experience the cast historic events and view the monuments. The culture is also different from the western side of the world, which makes people who want to have a new experience see all the aspects of a different culture.
