It is north of Greece.

It is east of Serbia and Macedonia. 

It is west of the Black Sea.

Physical Characteristics: Bulgaria varies greatly in geographical landscapes. 2 of which are the Rhodope and Balkan Mountains. Bulgaria also hosts the Danubian Plain and the Thracian Plain, along with other plateaus, basins, and river valleys. Most of Bulgaria is made of land that has an elevation of lower than 600m above sea level. The climate is affected greatly by the varying landforms, but it can be classified as a continental or Mediterranean climate zone.

 

Human Characteristics: The official language is Bulgarian, with the population of about 7 million people to speak it, either as a first or second language. The type of government is a unitary, parliamentary republic, which includes a prime minister. Visual artworks, that are made by famous artists, such as murals and icons, can be seen in art schools. Bulgaria is also world widely known for doing extremely well in sports. They have some of the most famous players on their side, along with having one of the world's best volleyball teams.

Human Environment Interaction

Humans Affect Environment: Pollution is major in Bulgaria. Traffic fumes and coal burning are affecting air. Chemicals being dumped into the rivers are polluting water. Deforestation and air pollution are damaging the forests, and the soil is dumped with metals and waste chemicals.

 

Environment's Response: Acid rain has occurred, which further damages the forests and soil. Climate change has been a large issue, with the temperatures rising and more rainfall, which leads to floods.

 

Movement

People: Train is the main way that people travel in Bulgaria, as it is very comfortable and accessible. Traveling by airplane, boat, and car/taxi are not as common, but they are still accessible enough to plan a trip using one of the transportation methods.

 

Goods: The main exports for Bulgaria are petroleum, copper, wheat, and packaged medicine. They are mainly directed towards Germany, Italy, and Turkey. The main imports for Bulgaria are Petroleum and Copper Ore.

 

Ideas: Culture in Bulgaria was not as diverse as it is today. Many colonies have taken over Bulgaria time and time again, which brought other cultural aspects to Bulgaria. Individuals around the world know about the Bulgarian culture because people who have traveled to and from the country brought news along with them. As a result, other people are encouraged to go to Bulgaria.

Bulgaria is located in the region of Eastern Europe.

 

This affects the reason people choose to stay in Bulgaria because Eastern Europe has many mountains, which might turn some people away. On the other hand, there is a vast difference in culture between Eastern Europe and the rest of the Western side of the world. Some might like to experience new things so they go to Bulgaria because of the varying culture aspects.
