Location

The latitude and longitude of Hungary are 47•N and 20•E.

 

It is south of Slovakia.

It is north of Serbia and Croatia.

It is west of Romania.

It is east of Slovenia and Austria.

Place

Physical Characteristics: Hungary has the Danube River running through it, along with some hills, which host villages and towns. The eastern part of the country has plains, and northern part has mountains. The climate zone is continental.

 

Human Characteristics: The population is about 10 millions and it's capital is Budapest. Hungary is known for its fine arts. Crafts and literature are among the most famous. Music is also very famous, as Hungary has had some of the most well known classical composers, such as Franz Liszt, who was very talented with piano and created some musical terms/concepts.

Human Environment Interaction

Humans Affect Environment: Pollution is big in Hungary. The CO2 from vehicles and power plants have greatly damaged the air. Water is polluted by industrial runoffs and sewage water. The chemical runoffs also affect soil.

 

Environment's Response: Acid rain has occurred, which further damages the soil and water. The temperature has been rising, although the amount of precipitation is getting lower. The estimated amount is a 12-14% decrease.

Movement

People: Trains, trams, and cars are most commonly used. Trains are for long distance traveling while trams, buses, and cars are used in the cities. Ferries are used for goods.

 

Goods: The main exports for Hungary are cars, vehicle parts, computers, and medicine. The main imports are petroleum, medicine, vehicle parts, and broadcasting equipment.

 

Ideas: In history, Hungary had many people take over part of the land. This helped spread the culture of other people to Hungary. 

Region

Hungary is in Eastern Europe. 

 

Eastern Europe has many cultural aspects that are different from the rest of the continent. People may choose to live in Hungary because of the variation of cultures. The weather is also somewhat mild, and there are some mountain ranges that people can ski on.
